Memory Game

At our Brownie meeting earlier this week, the girls participated in a memory game and then went outside to play a couple of games, that have world ties. All of this was part of a new Try-It badge the troop is working on.
Below are some photos from the Memory Game:

IMPORTANT --- Cookie Money CHANGE!

Hi Troop 2082-

Hi.
I know some of you may have turned in your cookie money to Shawn already, so I apologize for this...
While I was away for the weekend I got an e-mail from the woman in charge of the cookies and found out that because of the merger of the Patriot trail and Eastern Mass. GS, our troop bank account was unable to be activated at this time. Therefore, the cookie money need to be deposited into a leaders personal account until they can straighten up the paper work.
please make out your cookie check to "Pam O'Callaghan". If you have given Shawn a check already she can return it to you. If you get this message in time to do it before today's meeting , great. If not, I will come to your house at your convenience, to save you a trip.

Sorry about this.

Special Theatre Program: Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse

On Saturday, May 3 and Sunday, May 4 Wheelock Family Theatre in Boston in conjunction with the Eastern Massachusetts Girl Scout Council is offering a special theatre event featuring a performance of Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse.

SHOW SUMMARY: Look out! Here comes Lilly, barreling through life as the queen who likes everything! But when Lilly has something new (and purple and plastic) to show her classmates, and she just can’t wait until sharing time, she discovers that even queens must learn to share the spotlight. Children of every age will identify with the irrepressible Lilly, her best friends forever, Chester and Wilson, and the delights and dilemmas of their daily lives. Based on the books by Kevin Henkes, Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse is an entertaining peek through the mouse hole at families and friends just like yours.

The event takes place from 1:30 to 5:30 and costs $20 per person (leaders & adults have to pay too). The 3 p.m. show is about 90 minutes with an intermission.
The $20 price includes a premium seat, a pre-show drama workshop; post-show Q&A with members of the cast; study guide for Brownie troop leaders; and a Wheelock Family Theater Partner button good for one free admission per girl scout for a future performance.

Registration can be done individually or as a troop. FIRST, contact your leader to see if anyone from the troop is attending.

If no one from Brownie Troop 2082 is attending, you are still welcome to register individually with your daughter online at: http://www.girlscoutseasternmass.org/programs/mtCwheelockfamilytheaterlilly.htm

(There appears to be a rolling deadline for these events. Registration is first come, first serve.)

Want to Bake With Girl Scout Cookies?

Got Girl Scout Cookies? Want to bake with them?

The Patriots Trail Council's (Now part of the Eastern Massachusetts Girl Scout Council) 3rd Annual Cookie Creations event was held on February 5.
Boston's favorite pastry chefs created delicious desserts with our favorite Girl Scout Cookies, as a fundraiser for the council.

The 2008 winners were:
Crowd Favorite: Skipjacks
Judges' Favorite: Chatham Bars Inn

Here is one of Skipjacks' recipes:

Dark Rum Chocolate Truffles with Cinna Cinna-Spin Centers
Makes about 35 Truffles

10 oz. semisweet chocolate
1 cup heavy cream
3 tbl. butter, cut into cubes
¼ cup dark rum
1 box Cinna-Spins, ¾ rough chopped, ¼ ground into crumbs
½ lb. coating chocolate, melted

Have chocolate ready in a mixing bowl.
Bring cream to a boil and pour over chocolate and mix gently together till melted.
Add butter stirring into mixture till melted.
Add rum and mix in. Note, do not over mix, it will turn grainy.
Allow to come to room temperature.
When the mixture is quite thick and cooled, fold the rough chopped cookies into truffle mix and refrigerate
over night.
Scoop mixture into ¾” balls and roll to a round shape.
Roll and coat in coating chocolate and then sprinkle with cookie crumbs.
Keep cool till ready to serve.
