Brownies Get Their Wings at a Fly-Up Ceremony

We had a Fly-Up Ceremony for Brownie Troop 2082 at our last meeting, which was also a pool party celebration.
We also said goodbye to Jessica, who has been with the Troop since Daisy Scouts, and is not continuing on as a Junior Scout. Jessica, and the other 15 Brownies, all officially received their Fly-Up Wings to Junior Girl Scouts.
(Parents: The wings go on the new Green vest).
The girls also received a green membership star. The Blue Daisy membership Star and the Green Brownie stars will all move to the Green Junior Vest too.
Below is a slideshow from the ceremony:

FYI -- The new rainbow patch received today and the Brownie wings to come tomorrow wil go on the NEW GREEN JUNIOR VESTS!
see you tomorrow -(4:15 to 6 p.m. at 140 Temple Street)
-- Susan

Congrats to Juniors 2082!!! (Parents Thanks for Your Understanding and patience!)

Congrats to all the former Brownies who were able to make it to the bridging ceremony today! I can't believe the sun is shining now!

PLEASE HAVE THE GIRLS BRING THEIR BROWNIE VESTS TOMORROW.
I will be pinning on their final Green STAR on to their vest and safety pinning their brownie wings. And we will take one last group photo in the Brownie uniform! Then pool time!!!

Then it's time for pool party fun.
Don't forget a towel & sunscreen.
The weather is expected to be rain free!!!

Susan

FYI -- I want to thank everyone for their patience today!
While the weatherman was correct & the storm did pass in time and we had sunshine; we unfortunately had giant puddles and lots of mud.
At 4:30 p.m., when we began setting up, one of the dads in the parking lot offered to call the Masonic Hall to see if we could have the ceremony there.
The Troop leaders present, then made a group decision to move inside.
Unfortunately, the Masonic Hall could never have been an option as the Framingham bridging location, because 2 of the Troops requested handicapped accessible halls (one Daisy Troop with a Scout in an 80-pound wheelchair and another Junior Troop with a child in a walker).
After the bridging location was planned outside, due to the fact that no handicapped accessible locations were available on the agreed upon date, that Daisy Troop, with the 80-pound wheelchair Scout, dropped out of the town-wide bridging.
I want to personally thank Mr. Canhoto from Troop 2086 for coming through at the last minute and not disappointing all the Scouts. (Parents, probably will appreciate the non-muddy shoes.)

If anyone would like to share photos, send them to spetroni@rcn.com. I will try to post some photos on the Troop's Web site photos soon.

Expect Storm to Clear - Bridging Ceremony is On

I know there is a major downpour storm now, but according to weather.com it should be passing by 4:30 p.m.

This storm is moving at 55-60 MPH and is suppose to be SEVERE but pass by within 30 minutes.

Worse case scenario we will have to hold off by sitting in cars for a few minutes.
Don't want to diappoint the Scouts, by cancelling.

Radar on weather.com looks like we will have a brief clearing between this storm and then a second storm is expected to hit.

I was afraid by delaying until a 530 or 6 p.m. start that we will be right in the middle of that 2nd storm.

Don't forget to bring umbrellas and bug spray!
Susan

Town-wide Bridging Ceremony on, but check Web site again at about 3:30 p.m.

At this time, the bridging ceremony is still on.
Each Brownie should be wearing a white or cream top and either brown shorts, skirt or pants. DON'T FORGET THEIR VEST!
I would also advise bug spray!

The Scouts will be under tents. I am hoping for the weather to stay like this, cloudy and a splatter of raindrops.

I DO see that we are under a tornado watch through 8 p.m. and that there is the possibility of a SHORT downpour/lightning storm like yesterday.

I will post on the Web site by 3:30 p.m. if we are CANCELLED.
My intention is that we are a go! (same plan as we had established on Friday.)

If however, we do get a storm as severe and SHORT as yesterday, that WE will move back the ceremony by 30 minutes or an hour. Thus, a 5:30 p.m. or 6 p.m. ceremony.

If that is the case -- I will post on the Framingham GIRL SCOUT WEB SITE by 3:30 p.m. that time change!!

P.S. The Scouts will be sitting at picnic tables under a tent directly in front of the pavillion. Parents may sit at other picnic tables, but they're not under a tent. Parents may wish to bring their own chair. There are other tents errected on site - 3 others - but not near the pavillion, where the ceremony will take place.
