Girl Scouts of Central & Western Massachusetts & Broad Meadow brook have teamed up for a For the Birds Try-It program for Brownies on Saturday, April 17 from 9:30 a.m. to 12;30 p.m.
Earn the Central & Western Massachusetts Council's Own For the Birds Try-It while learning about the fascinating world of birds.
Explore beak adaptations, feathers, nests, bird calls and much more.
Learn from naturalists and go for a hike on the sanctuary grounds for a bit of bird watching!
Individual Scouts must attend with an adult.
Event # 4732
Registration fee is $8 per Scout.
(Try-It is not included in the price and must be purchased at the Worcester Girl Scout store.)
Registration will close on April 16 or when 30 Scouts have registered.

Girl Scouts of Central & Western Massachusetts and the Top Fun Aviation Toy Museum in Fitchburg has teamed up to offer a Movers Try-It program for Brownie Scouts on Saturday, April 10 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Program: The wind can create a gentle breeze or make powerful hurricanes. An airplane couldn't fly without the wind blowing over its wings. Can wind help you have fun? Come to this Movers workshop and find out!
The program includes free time in the museum after the program.
Scouts may bring a bag lunch and eat in a designated area in the museum.
An afternoon session will be added, if the morning session fills.
Whole Troops and individual Scouts may register. An adult must attend with an individual Scout. Event #4715
Registration cost is $7 per Scout. Adults & leaders are free.
Registration will end when 30 Scouts have registered or on March 10.

Optional Lowell Devils Teddy Bear Toss, Hockey Game, & PubliC Skating Event on Sunday, Dec. 6

Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts Council and the Lowell Devils have teamed up for a special Girl Scout event on Sunday, Dec. 6. The event is for Scouts of all levels and family members may attend also, including siblings! This is an OPTIONAL Event for Brownies in Troop 72082.
Lowell Devils Teddy Bear Toss: Enjoy the Lowell Devils Hockey Game and do a good deed. Bring a new or gently used teddy bear and toss it onto the ice during intermission. The teddy bears will be given to children’s organizations. After the game, stay for some exclusive Girl Scouts and Family time, for a public skate. A participation patch and skate rental included in the registration price. (Brownies who participate will also complete work on the ice skating Try-It badge)
The Lowell Devils play at Tsongas Arena, 300 Martin Luther King, Jr., Way, in Lowell.
Registration fee is $14 per Scout and $14 for each additional family member.
Scouts & family members may bring their own skates. Tsongas has a limited amount of skates for rental, which is included in the price; but no guarantee of your size.
Registration deadline is Sunday, Nov. 22!

OPTIONAL EVENT: Safari Scout Day at Roger Williams Zoo on Saturday, April 25

Girl Scouts of Rhode Island and Roger Williams Zoo in Providence are hosting a Scout Safari Day on Saturday, April 25 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

This is an OPTIONAL event for members of Brownie Troop 2082.
Spend an adventurous day at this Providence, R.I., Zoo with fellow Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts of all ages. Scouts can participate in interactive stations that will help you to complete a variety of badge requirements, while surrounded by a zoo full of fascinating animals. Meet special guest presenters, Zoo staff, and some very cool critters.
Cost: $12/Scout (includes admission and program fee; does not include lunch). Non-Scouts: $5/children, $10/adults (admission only). The $5 non-Scout admission means that siblings will not be alowed to participate in any of the special programs and interactive stations.

Pre-registration is required and payment is due upon registration.
Registration deadline is April 9.
There will be a late fee of $5 per Scout after that date. Sorry, no refunds. Please let a leader know if you register your daughter.

At this time, no leader is attending. So if your daughter is interested in attending, a parent or guardian must attend with them. Transportation is on your own. If a leader does decide to attend, we will let you know.

In previous years a participation patch (for the back of the vest) was included in the cost of admission for this special event. It is unclear, at this time, if a patch will be given this year.

Council Offering Little Breeze, Big Wind Try-It Workshop on Thursday, April 16

Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts Council is offering a Brownie Movers Try-it Workshop on Thursday, April 16 in Waltham called "Little Breeze, Big Wind."
I believe this is an early release day for Framingham.
This is an OPTIONAL event for Brownies in Troop 2082.
Workshop description: The wind can create a gentle breeze or a powerful hurricane. An airplane couldn’t fly without the wind blowing on its wings. Can you make things that are powered by the wind and have fun doing it? Girls will earn the Movers Try-it.
Worskhop is 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, April 16 at Camp Cedar Hill in Waltham.
The workshop is for 2nd and third grade Brownies only.
The cost of the workshop is $9 per Brownie. $0 per adult/leader.

LITTLE BREEZE, BIG WIND: Optional Try-IT badge Program on Sunday, March 8

This is an optional science event for Brownies in Troop 72082.
Those who attend will earn the Brownie Movers Try-It badge.

Location: Maynard Elks Lodge, 34 Powder Mill Rd, Maynard
Cost: $9 Brownie & $0 adult/leader
Please check with a troop leader if your daughter would like to attend.
This is not a drop-off and pick-up event, so if a troop leader is not attending a parent will need to stay.
Registration deadline: Friday, Feb. 6 or until registration fills up.

ZOOM Workshop in Swansea on Nov. 15

Remember the TV program ZOOM?
The Girl Scout Council of Rhode Island is offering a special ZOOM program for Brownies. Attendees will participate in ZOOM science activities that are interactive and hands-on. The workshop will introduce science and math concepts by showing girls how science works in the real world. Attendees will earn a ZOOM fun patch (for back of the vest).
The program is on Saturday, Nov. 15 from 10 a.m. to noon at Camp Promising Acres in Swansea. (Located near Fall River, about 60-75 minutes from Framingham)
The cost is $6 per Brownie.
The deadline to register is Monday, Nov. 3.
NOTE: As it is unlikely a leader will be attending. Your daughter will need to register as an individual Scout. A parent or guardian will need to attend with her. If the situation changes, we will let you know if a leader is attending this optional event.
If your daughter would like to attend, please let one of the leaders know no later than Saturday, Nov. 1, so they can help you with the registration process.

Earn a Special FETCH! Participation Patch at Children's Museum in Easton!

Brownies can earn a chance to feel like FETCH! contestants (characters in a popular PBS TV show) and along the way earn a FETCH! Patch (for the back of their vest)!
The Children's Museum in Easton is offering the special patch program.
The hands-on FETCH! activities extend the science and engineering learning introduced during the WGBH/PBS show. Brownies will tackle challenges, solve problems, and devise creative solutions while doing hands-on activities that require easy-to-find materials.
The Museum's talented educators are experienced in all the FETCH! activities and make earning the FETCH! Patch a breeze for you and your Troop.

If you think your daughter is interested in this special program, perhaps we can arrange a Troop outing. Whether we go, will depend on scheduling and the number of girls interested.
If that doesn't work out, perhaps we can contact the Museum about an individual visit.
